Pansat Instructions Here are all of the neccesary flashes, current working bins, channel lists/ software you will need to get your pansat receiver running. There are some detailed, easy to follow instructions posted at the bottom of this page, Please just read them off of your screen and you should be set up in 20 mins. If you are having difficulty with the provided instrcutions, please refer to the "how to" manual for further guidance. NOTE: For Channel Lists and Channel List software, Please click here and download G-tools and extentions. Please download any one of the channel lists form the section that has pansat/pantec channel lists.
Files Needed: A) "Pansat_bin" file. You will also need a RS-232C compliant DB9 (9 pin) straight through female to female cable, or use your loader cable and a gender changer to have female to female plugs. You can pick up a gender changer from most computer stores or Radio Shack. 1) Plug one end of the RS-232C cable into the back of IRD, and the other end in to your computer COM 1 serial port. 2) Turn the receiver on. 3) Open the Pansat flash utility and load the "X-8500_040615_230_api.bin" file and then select "Flash Rom File." For STB Model enter "key:global" (without the quotes, of course). 4) Click "Download," and allow it to finish. There is no need for a boot file with the X-85 flash. 5) Now you need to load the channel list into your receiver with STB_gTools. To use STB_gTools: open gTools.exe and select dishpro.gtd (or whatever channel list you wish to upload), right click on sats on the left side of the screen, Choose Tools, STB connect, select your port and download the channel file to the receiver). NOTE: Some channels lists are better then others for different satellites, if you are missing a lot of channels you should ask in the forum for assistance. 6) Hook up the Pansat receiver to the LNB and turn it on and then go to the main Menu and select "Set Up." Select "English" as the language and exit the menu. Make sure you are plugging in the satellite cable into the IF INPUT on the back of the receiver. 7) Select "Antenna Setup," and choose the satellite you want to view, Dish 110 or Dish 119. Dish 110 has a lot more PPV's, and 119 is the main satellite. Both satellites have a lot of channels. 8) At the bottom right corner of the screen you will notice 2 bars, one for level and one for quality. The one you want to focus on is the quality bar, the level bar is not important. Goto this site to get the right look angle for aiming your dish. If you want Dish 119, select Dish Network main satellite, if you want Dish 110 (more PPV's) select Dish Network secondary satellite. Both are very close to each other. 9) Select your location or the nearest city to you and hit Calculate Look Angle. You will notice it gives you 2 numbers now, Azimuth and elevation. Now use a compass and aim it at the direction of the Azimuth reading you got. And on your dish you will see a elevation scale on the side where you can adjust the dish up and down. Set that to the same as the elevation reading you got. Now that you know the general direction of the signal your reading to fine tune it. Have someone watching the TV and another person adjusting the dish and try to get the quality bar as high as you can. 10) Next go to the menu and select "Parental Controls" (Use "0000" for all of the PIN numbers). 11) Type 0000 for the second PIN, and you will be taken to a menu where you will see an option called "key code access," and it will be set to "OFF." Turn the "key code access" ON. There is no need to enter the keys since they are already in the X-85 flash. 12) Click the exit button and watch TV. For getting both satellites, you will need 2 dishes and you will have to run each cable from the lnb into the Diseqc switch (which is included with all receivers sold). You can plug in upto 4 satellites with these switches and link it to 1 receiver. If you need more help with setting up your receiver for more then 1 satellite please ask in the forum and we can get into more details. You can also load other channel lists to your receiver to suit your installation, check in the forum for more info.
